The Street Mental Health Coalition, in collaboration with the Street Medicine Institute, invites proposals for the 2027 Street Mental Health Conference. We welcome submissions from clinicians, researchers, outreach workers, peer specialists, policy leaders, students, and community partners — and especially encourage proposals that are interdisciplinary, community-partnered, or led by people with lived experience.
Formats include workshops, panels, talks, case discussions, clinical skills sessions, research and policy presentations, and other interactive sessions.

Street-based mental health care is shaped by the realities of place, the strength of community relationships, and the ability of systems to collaborate. The 2027 theme weaves together three commitments:
Rooted in community
Deep, trust-based engagement grounded in the neighborhoods and communities where care happens.

Cross-sector care spanning psychiatry, primary care, peers, harm reduction, housing, and legal support.
Facing today, imagining tomorrow
A dual focus on the clinical, ethical, and structural challenges of today — and on designing more responsive, connected systems for the future.
Learn from local and national expertise
Host City Day
Get out of the ballroom and into Los Angeles — limited opportunities for ride-alongs, site visits, or city tours in small groups with the teams delivering street-based mental health care in LA. Attendees not in the field join workshops, panels, and oral presentations at the conference venue.
Traditional Day
A keynote address, plenary sessions, workshops and small-group sessions, and poster presentations. The program committee will especially welcome peer-led, interdisciplinary, community-partnered, and cross-system proposals when the call for sessions opens.

Building on a sold-out first year
The inaugural conference — then called the Street Psychiatry Conference — was held in New York City in July 2025, co-hosted by Janian Medical Care/CUCS and a national trainee team. It sold out rapidly at 225 registrants, bringing together more than 150 clinicians, peers, medical students, and program leaders for person-centered, street-based psychiatric care.
Its new name reflects what the field really looks like: an interdisciplinary community, across credentials, united by the work. Read more about the Coalition.

The Delphi Hotel, downtown Los Angeles
The conference will be held at The Delphi, a hotel in the heart of downtown Los Angeles — walking distance from the neighborhoods where much of LA's street-based care happens, and a fitting home base for Host City Day. Room block and travel details will be announced with registration.
