Street Mental Health Conference 2027
Innovating and Integrating Care Within Community. Two days of workshops, conversations, and connection with the people building street-based mental health care across the country.
Submit a proposal for the 2027 conference
The Street Mental Health Coalition, in collaboration with the Street Medicine Institute, invites proposals for the 2027 Street Mental Health Conference. We welcome submissions from clinicians, researchers, outreach workers, peer specialists, policy leaders, students, and community partners — and especially encourage proposals that are interdisciplinary, community-partnered, or led by people with lived experience.
Formats include workshops, panels, talks, case discussions, clinical skills sessions, research and policy presentations, and other interactive sessions.
We're excited to announce that due to greater-than-expected demand, we're reopening our call for sessions for one more week. In this second round, we are especially seeking proposals from people with lived experience of homelessness or mental illness; West Coast organizations; any street-based mental health team; anyone working to support field-based care on a governmental or policy level; and any international individuals or organizations.

A dual focus on the clinical, ethical, and structural challenges of today — and on designing more responsive, connected systems for the future.
Learn from local and national expertise
Host City Day
Learn from the experts building systems of field-based mental health care in Los Angeles. Understand how local systemic and policy factors in California support or impede street-based care. Local teams may provide limited opportunities for ride-alongs or site visits.
Traditional Day
A keynote address, plenary sessions, workshops and small-group sessions, and poster presentations. The program committee will especially welcome peer-led, interdisciplinary, community-partnered, and cross-system proposals.

Building on a successful first year
The inaugural conference — then called the Street Psychiatry Conference — was held in New York City in July 2025, hosted by Janian Medical Care/CUCS. It sold out rapidly at 225 registrants, bringing together more than 150 clinicians, peers, medical students, and program leaders for person-centered, street-based psychiatric care.
Its new name reflects what the field really looks like: an interdisciplinary community, across credentials, united by the work. Read more about the Coalition.

The conference will be held at a hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Venue and travel details will be announced with registration.
